Professor Loire
Professor Loire is Lori Landay, Professor of Visual Culture + New Media Studies at Berklee College of Music. Dr. Landay is an interdisciplinary teacher, scholar, and artist whose creative and critical work explores themes of transformation in audiovisual cultural forms, technology, and perception. She is the author of two books, I Love Lucy and Madcaps, Screwballs, and Con Women: The Female Trickster in American Culture, and articles on Minecraft, LEGO, virtual worlds, digital narrative, silent film, and television culture. Her creative work includes animation, machinima, virtual art, and music video. She was awarded the Dean’s Award for Excellence, a Newbury Comics Faculty Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities Enduring Questions Grant, and consulted on and appeared in Finding Lucy, a PBS American Masters documentary. "New Media Movies by Lori Landay" won Best of Show and People's Choice Awards at the NMC Summer Art Show. Her current project, The Immersive Tools Project for Autism and Music Education, was funded by a 2017-18 FLY (Faculty Led Innovations) Grant from the Berklee College of Music Office of Faculty Development.
